Mampoer Festival 2013

The Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum is situated about 40km east of Pretoria on the farm Kaalfontein, in the Rayton district. The museum preserves the history and showcases the development of agriculture in South Africa, and on display is a large collection of farming implements, tractors and animal-drawn vehicles. On the historic farmyard you will find two furnished farmhouses (built in 1880 and 1913 respectively), two authentic Ndebele huts, vintage farm equipment and various farm animals. Facilities at the museum include a picnic and braai area, a farm stall, restaurant (Tant Miertjie se Kombuis), self catering accommodation, special occasions venue and conference facilities. Visitors can, by prior bookings, see and experience various demonstrations such as candle-making, milking of cows, roasting of coffee beans and the baking of bread.

The Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum distils and sells its own mampoer and liqueurs, and hosts three festivals each year – the Mampoer Festival, Prickly Pear Festival and the Agricultural Museum Show. The museum will be hosting the annual Mampoer Festival on Saturday, 1 June 2013.
