Laughing Chefs @ Lucit Restaurant is one of those superb hidden gems in the city! Instead of travelling to your closest mall for “just a meal”, set aside a moment to escape to pure serenity; the restaurant is nestled into a forest-like garden, with soothing water features creating a peaceful moment. Over twenty years ago Gideon van Eeden saw the potential of this house, built in 1908. Still boasting with its original structure and aesthetic elements, such as intricate mosaic tiling and a Herbert Baker fireplace, he transformed the place into an art noveau haven with extra features such as decorated steel ceilings and lead glass doors. This year the Laughing Chefs could not resist the potential of this magnificent place and jumped in to give it a fresh new breath of life.
Maggie Gey van Pittius and Esrida Gey van Pittius entered the catering world in 2009, specialising in Corporate and Private Event Planning for Parties, Functions, Exhibitions, Shows and Celebrations. They have now decided to expand their repertoire to Restauranteurs as well. The two industries compliment each other perfectly, and they now have their own space to make the most of their creative experience. Lucit is perfect for summer or winter. When the weather permits, sit outside and enjoy the lush greenery surrounding the outside seating areas. If the chill sneaks up, make sure you book a table next to one of the fireplaces for a delightful cozy moment. With a variety of seating options, you can either enjoy a meal in the expansive open-plan dining areas, or create a more intimate secluded setting for a special occasion. Fill your tummy with a hearty meal, while your soul relishes a moment of refreshing in the serene setting!
