Hillside Tavern Steakhouse. A typical Pretoria menu with meat and fish in an abundance of popular options. From the basic steaks in different cuts and sizes, to pork neck steak with apple or mustard sauce, and combos of steak and chicken, rib or prawns. On the menu are soups and salads, game or ox tongue with mildly seeded mustard sauce, and fillet kebabs. Side dishes include chips, potato, mash, vegetables. A comprehensive wine list covers all the expected options, and wines by the glass are served generously, at a good price.

Hillside twice won the coveted Golden T Bone award, sponsored by the Sunday Times for the best Steakhouse in South Africa. It had the privilege to be runner up to the winner more than once for the Chateau Libertas Top Steakhouse in South Africa award. During 2015 Hillside reached the top 20 of 139 Restaurants competing in the national Wolftrap Steakhouse competition, to go through to the final round. Hillside also received an award by a Beijing based institution for the “Top Choice” Restaurant in Gauteng, as voted by the Asian/Chinese community and tourists.
